We believe in giving my students the stepping stones that lead to a healthy and physically active lifestyle throughout their lifetime. This means that we want to give students the knowledge, concepts, social skills, and opportunities to become proficient at skills in activities they enjoy and will be able to use throughout their lives. Something else we incorporate in our units is different strategies to help students learn how to live a healthy lifestyle. We talk about the muscles, bones, the components of fitness and nutrition. Another goal in our physical education program is to focus on whole student development across the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. As PE teachers the focus should not just be on the psychomotor skills but also the cognitive skills. In the affective domain we want to help the students have positive outlooks on school, build positive relationships with peers, and have positive, respectful relationships with teachers. By achieving all of these goals students gain the knowledge and skills to live a physically active and healthy lifestyle throughout their entire life.
